Top Five Leadership Things I’ve Read This Week

Coming back from a week’s vacation has left me with a bunch of reading.  Here are the Top 5 leadership things I’ve read this week.

  1. Ridge Burns, CEO of the mission InFaith, writes about his recent flying experience and encounter with Jeff Smisek, CEO of the new combined Continental/United Airlines, and the “Three A’s” leaders need to live by, because, after all, all leaders are in the people business.  http://infaith.org/burns/jeff-smisek/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=jeff-smisek
  2. Scott Williams over at BigIsTheNewSmall.com discusses the distinction between activity and productivity.  http://www.bigisthenewsmall.com/2011/11/21/just-because-youre-active-doesnt-mean-youre-productive/
  3. Seth Godin touches on what is really our competitive edge. http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2011/11/your-competitive-advantage.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+typepad%2Fsethsmainblog+%28Seth%27s+Blog%29
  4. This one is another by Scott Williams that he wrote while I was away last week.  The Five Ways Leaders Destroy Teams.  http://www.bigisthenewsmall.com/2011/11/16/5-ways-leaders-destroy-their-team/
  5. Finally, I just finished reading a book by the former President of my Alma Mater, Lancaster Bible College & Graduate School.  The book by Dr. Gilbert A. Peterson is entitled, A Master Plan for Leadership: A Biblical Perspective. Dr. Peterson dives into leadership for the Christian, whether it be in the church or the “secular” world.  Definitely worth the read.  I’m sure you’ll see some quotes from that book in the days ahead on this blog.
